What's With All The "protection" On The Forums?

Why did all of the forums suddenly become "protected forums" a few days ago?

I noticed this the other day as well. You cannot view any forums as a guest. You have to be logged in to your account.

ok... now some light shines here for me... many of you may have noticed all the garbage spam on the CADORS section... all came from someone logged in as a guest.... I reported it to the admin and I bet that's how it's been dealt with...

It's been that way for quite some time. If you are not logged in, certain categories have been limited to members only for a while.

That's right. For as long as I can remember anyone could view the "General Helicopter Operations" Firum without being a member, however the "Employment" Forum required that you were a member and signed in to view it. That being said, to post/comment on any forum you had to be a member and signed in. So how does a "guest" who is not a member post spam if they are not signed in?

My admin people have questioned Verticals web security in the past (when our firewalls blocked you); maybe that's your problem.
