  1. Maury, I have to agree with a lot of what you are saying regarding the need for an association. Its unfortunate that this is exactly what happened to the directors of HEPAC when they tried to form an association, they were attacked by the nay sayers to the point that they ended up giving up the fight.
  2. Happy where I am working for a well respected company receiving a very fair wage and respect from the operator for the work I do for them. Union - NO Way, but an association Yes, I am all for that! I joined HEPAC as a fairly low time pilot and felt sorry for the #$^& and abuse the select number of individuals had to go thru for taking the time to try to organize it.
  3. Glad to see all are ok. Good on Great Slave and Twin Otter crew to have pilot and pax back in Yellowknife for the night. I am sure the temperatures up there would be hard to survive in for a night without survival gear. Makes on think about the importance of briefing the customer about wearing clothing suitable for the season and temperature.
  4. exactly the reason I don't usually post, responses like that
  5. Sitting back waiting for someone to begin some predictions on what the new presidency and the election of Obama will mean for the helicopter industry. Does he amazinly turn the economic downturn around and the stock markets get flooded with junior mining companies screaming for overbooked aircaft, or do we continue on a downward spiral into a depression too deep for one man to climb out of, or will it have absolutely no change what so ever on the helicopter industry. Thought it may be a good topic and should start a few debates if nothing else.
  6. I usually just hang out in the background and browse through all the topics and laugh at most peoples post, but I must say that is the best written advice for this time in the industry and so true. Well put max Continuous. I think now is the time people will realize the grass isn't always greener on the other side and it is wise to hold on to what you have and be happy your still doing what you love and getting paid well to do it.
  7. Thanks for all the replies, and I do understand how important the tower communication is, i just wondered if it would be more valuble to use your whole lesson training in clear skies and not waiting for clearance from the tower. I just want to get the most out of my $435 hr if you know what I mean.
  8. Lamabubble Thanks for the support on Valley. I am slated to start in november with **** in Merritt, but transport hasn't given him the OK yet. have you or anyone else trained with Craig and what are your opinions on doing the school in chilliwack. I don't suppose it is all that busy there, but that is the main reason I was really looking forward to merritt.
  9. Thanks skids. I am new to the site today, so didn't quite get to those post. Looks like it is a bit of a touchy subject. I am definatley not a someone who has had everything handed to me, its been a long three years of working long days away from home to save enough to get started, but when I was told about these grants, i couldn't help but be curious. How has it worked out for you duf or are you still in the process??
  10. Was just wondering if anyone has gone through the hrdc program and recieved money for training. I am training this november and and am eligable for funding so any tips and info would help. Thanks Jp
