Foreign worker visas for Summer positions
John Deer replied to Heliduck's topic in General Helicopter Operations
Here is a BC company that should be able to help you. After all, they are advertising in Blade Slapper. -
I recently received my T4 and box the 40 amount is the same as my YTD "travel allowance" paid out in 2023. If it is my "travel allowance" I have paid already tax on this as shown on my 2023 pay stubs. Is this possible cra allows paid travel (and already taxed) days to be included as a taxable benefit as shown in my box 40? Has anyone else dealt with this.

Accountant Recommendations - Canada
John Deer replied to MEK47's topic in General Helicopter Operations
I use Turbo Tax, but not the free one I do pay for their better option. I use the cra tl2 and t2200 forms. I max out rrsp and get lots back every year. Yes I am a contractor or seasonal employee. Cra has audited me and all goes good! just keep good records so you can back it all up. -
What rates are you negotiating this season?
John Deer replied to 5-per's topic in General Helicopter Operations
Yes this is my seasonal rate provided I work 150 days & fly 400 rev but this is not guaranteed. I am no rockstar. But I am reliable and the customers like me. If you have a few thousand Hours. Fly well with a good record and you are safe you should earn this as well. Don't forget there are less pilots to hire these days. -

John Deer replied to 5-per's topic in General Helicopter Operations
If I can do 150 days I will make a bit over 85K. If I can fly 400hrs I will make a bit less than 55K. But that's all speculation. -
2023 contracts are happening early now.
John Deer replied to John Deer's topic in General Helicopter Operations
BigD is right on target. It is not only medium pilots making this kind of money. If you are good with a Astar you can & should make this as well. -
Current job placement is definitely in the pilots favour these days. At least five of my friends have solid offers or signed contracts over the last month, my self as well. The majority of the rates are up as well! There are less commercial Helicopter pilots around now, and you are in demand. If you are signing a new contract you should up your rate.

My season is starting well. We have good contacts and don't rely on fires.

I just found out the Phoenix hangar survived the night. I do not know about any other hangars.

Does anyone working in cymm have any details of which buildings at the airport have burned? Tonight I read the Nova hotel was burning and the old terminal was also burning? It would be good to hear from someone who has seen it first hand. Have any of the helicopter hangars burned?

Contract Pilot Rates, What Are They?
John Deer replied to crosstube's topic in General Helicopter Operations
This season I was aware of work in lights, $200 per hr, 4 hr mins if hired. Another company was paying $225 per hr, 2 hr mins in intermediates.
