Jeez shakey for someone who hates foreign workers you're pretty keen to steal a local's job in Africa.

Hahaha. Touche. Im guessing there isn't as many African nationals with experience being passed up Like what's been going on with the bottom feeders in this country.

Not everyone looks at it the same way. As a low time pilot I offered to move to small town Alberta and it completely set up my career. After that if there was value in what was being offered, then I would consider the move. I still would today. I moved to and lived in Africa for a couple years and it was so worth it! I turned others down such as Vancouver that didn't seem suitable for me. It's all in what you want.

There's a huge difference in what you're talking about than an established pilot moving to fort Unamit. **** if I had the chance to do a gig in Africa I would take it too. Try to follow the narrative. But in case I'm wrong apparently there will be a company in Fort Mac that could use your services when things improve as the word is out for the guys who follow the rule of fool me twice.

I never agree with Shakey, but in this case I'll make an exception. The industry is in a downhill trajectory, off-shore oil, seismic, mineral exploration and forestry jobs are drying up. You will probably be too old to ever get into medivac, RCMP, and government once you go through the grind of getting the experience that is required. The only route I see available for you is a base job flying lights and intermediates, that generally requires moving more remote locations. That might be your thing, but you will be on call most of the time, will get relieved occasionally by a pool pilot. But what do I know.

    Smartest thing you've ever said.

  4. If you are worried that you may have to be on the losing end of a toilet brush you definitely want to hold on to that 80 grand and maybe get into some other inďustry. It really is as bad as most guys are saying. Some guys have had good even great experiences but the norm is just outright lies and abuse. I'm around your age and if I had to Do It again in this day and age I wouldn't. Just my 2 cents take it or leave it. Good luck.

It's kind of nauseating that almost every thread in here eventually diverts to some offhanded remark about Trudeau. You guys are more obsessed with him than the ladies who work in my office.

My wife was nauseous a lot during menopause too, you'll get over it.

For those that see the need to single out certain individuals in this post and this forum in general, maybe have some empathy for your fellow human beings! It’s easy to sit on your high horse and throw darts, but would you throw those darts if you were face to face with these individuals?

I know these individuals well through many years in the industry. Have I seen eye to eye with them on everything through that time? Absolutely not! However, I don’t feel the need to publicly humiliate them and harass them. Compassion is in short supply these days.

I wish everyone the best through these trying times.

The problem is they had no problem throwing the guys who are slagging them under the bus when the ball was in their court. Don't really have a dog in this particular fight but and old pilot once told me, "be careful of the toes you step on,on the way to the top they are attached to the a55 you have to kiss on the way to the bottom. And yes I have one person in particular I would have no problem telling to his face what his mother should have done.
