After weighing all of the responses, we've decided it makes sense to keep these forums predominantly Canadian, and start a new forums for our U.S. and international readers. We'd simply like to keep individuals from being the focus of a general discussion about operations in Afghanistan (unless they volunteer for the privilege!). As I wrote in the magazine earlier this year, back in April, I did my FAA instrument proficiency check at Independent Helicopters in Newburgh, New York, which also has a Frasca TruFlite H: http://independenthelicopters.com/FlightSimulator.aspx I resisted simulators/flight training devices for a long time, but my IPC was a great experience and extremely cost-effective. For recurrent instrument training, I'll take a simulator/FTD over a hood any day (especially if I'm paying for it!). Elan

  19. Thanks for the input! Keep the suggestions coming; we'll consider all of them as the forums continue to evolve. GWK: the Photos from the Field feature has turned into a gallery (see the "Gallery" tab). We're hoping this format is a little less cumbersome than having the photos in the forums, although we can move it back to the forums if that proves not to be the case. Old photos should have been automatically collected in the "Members" gallery (although I believe we also have back-ups of them in case any were lost in the transition). Please post away! Cheers, Elan
