Very sad news. Condolences to the family and friends.

I'm really not digging the new 'truncating of replies' implementation. Now it seems that you have to click on each individual reply as opposed to being able to view a page of replies as it was previously. I think this is a step backwards. It makes the site less intuitive and takes more clicks to view post replies... and that is a pain in the a**. Of course, if there is a setting somewhere to change it back to the old way, I'd appreciate learning how to change it.

Don't Try This At Home Kids
Rotorboy2 replied to WTF_was_that's topic in General Helicopter Operations
At the start it looked worse than it was. When he entered the fog you could still see down to the creek so, in my opinion, it wasn't that hairy. Flying in the mountains produces may days like that. It's not ideal, but it's a reality. -
New restricted airspace restrictions are going into effect in Vancouver and Whistler for the Olympics from Jan. 29th to Mar. 24th. The 30 mile airspace restrictions are going to cause headaches, with increased airspace restrictions and new security check points at all the local airports (all pilots and pax to be screened before flights). All flights must be on a VFR or IFR flight plan and at least 60 minutes prior to the flight, according to the Transport Canada website. I'm guessing it'll be alot more involved than that. Here is a graphic of the CYR airspace rings:

Aviation Business Management Course?
Rotorboy2 replied to That's not good's topic in General Helicopter Operations
QUOTE (Jet B @ Dec 11 2009, 11:19 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just take a normal business management course... Then remove all logic and common sense from it. Perfect, Jet B! -
The Economy And Heli Industry
Rotorboy2 replied to radshark's topic in General Helicopter Operations
If I were to hazzard a guess (and it is only a guess) I would say 2010 will only be a slight improvement on 2009 and in 2011 it will pick up again... but certainly not to the levels we saw in 2006 or 2007. -
Those CIFFC heli numbers have grown immensely today: BC Light 96 Intermediate 207 Medium 94 Heavy 23 That's 420 helicopters on BC fires alone! So why am I sitting in NE BC with nothing to do?!?!?

Missing Helicopter In Quebec
Rotorboy2 replied to Brock_Landers's topic in General Helicopter Operations
I didn't know the pilot but I worked with the engineer on several occasions. He was a great guy. My heart goes out to both families. RIP TH. -
Missing Helicopter In Quebec
Rotorboy2 replied to Brock_Landers's topic in General Helicopter Operations
It just stuns me that, in this day of satellite tracking and 506 ELTs, a helicopter simply 'vanishes' and can't be found. It just doesn't make any sense. -

Offshore Helicopter Involved In Incident: Coast Guard
Rotorboy2 replied to Kyle's topic in General Helicopter Operations
What a tragedy. My thoughts go out to the families. As the S-92 is such a new aircraft, one has to gather that many parties involved will want that aircraft found to see if a cause can be determined. Have there been any other major incidents with the S-92?
