Looking For Approved Cockpit Computer Mounting Hardware

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks - Need some pointing in the right direction.

Client wants to mount a Tablet PC on a Bell 206.

Wants it off the left side off the Instrument console to mount a Computer that can be angled towards the pilot for nav guidance.

Is there anything out there that's approved ...

Thanks

I would check some of the manufacturers of Electronic Flight Bags such as Honeywell-Bendix/King as the shops installing these items might have fabricated a mount similar in size to what you need for the tablet PC.

Don't forget that just because someone has made a mount that is certified in an other aircraft type that you can use it without a proper installation on your machine which will I am sure include several tons of engineering drawings and many trips to the regulator be it FAA or TC. By this time it will be next Xmas.

Also check with some of the DARs who would have to do the engineering of the attachment to the aircraft. They might have done something simalar in the past. Not being too negative but this probably will take you more time than you have, to get installed- even if you do find a "certified" mount for the tablet.

Ram Mount USA is a good source for many different types of mounting solutions... Vista Nav (recently purchased by Honeywell) was mounted with a Ram Mount. The also have suction mounts that work great for a coffee holder. Who designs a 1million dollar machine without a cup holder anyway?

Cheers
