Gary Watson
I know the guy behind this and he has been developing this concept for a number of years. Now that he has serious $$$ behind him it could work.
407driver
Helium, Huh? I wonder if anyone rembers that little problem with the Hindenburg?
Elvis
The Hindenburg was filled with Hydrogen not helium, helium is not flammable
porter
Correct. Flammable hydrogen had to be used because of a U.S. embargo on nonflammable helium.

Gary Watson
That was a hydrogen blimp. The Germans were forced to use hydrogen because they were unable to obtain the non explosive helium. Hydrogen also gives, AFAIK a better lift per cubic meter but does have that nasty flamable characteristic
