High Level

Just randomly looking at cadors for helicopters aug 1 to date . There seem to be an awful lot of incidents at High Level. Is this a really busy area or was there some sort of enforcement blitz recently?.

Scrap that, I had a look. It would seem there are some picky flight service people violating aircraft for minor Mode C transponder stuff. Also radio procedure stuff, not calling down, or not calling 5 minutes before entering the zone.

hmmm making the "bush" operators follow the rules. See nothing wrong with that.

I don't think they're being 'picky'... I think pilots are being forgetful.

 

We've all done it at one point or another.

i've only encountered one person in the high level fss who was an ***, but he really made up for the nice ones...

I got dinged at CYOJ awhile back. I supposedly didn't call final. I dunno how the lady in the tower would've known seeing as just before I called final, she called "High level will be unattended for the next five minutes"...

 

Here's another question: Is there another station in this country where they take as many pee breaks as they do in CYOJ ??? Seems to me there's hardly a time I depart or arrive there when the attendant doesn't call a three or five minute recess...

Kugluktuk......every time I went in there they were out side smoking.

But I guess it's not quite as busy as OJ.

"A Bell 205 helicopter operated by Ultra Helicopters was inbound to High Level and the pilot failed to report at least 5 minutes prior to entering the Mandatory Frequency zone. Initial call was at 6.7 NM northwest of the airport with a 3 minute ETA."
