Skids Up
PIC, Wouldn't do that. That wouldn't be playing nice. It's from a few years ago... Nothing can replace experience, not only from a safety perspective but also in terms of how the person handles the client. An experienced contractor with say 7000hrs has seen a few senarios already. This means that operations doesn't have to babysit. With as much respect that I can, I have to disagree. To a certain extent... Hours do not always = (good) experience concerning customer service. Sometimes the one with the fewest hours, and hasn't been totally disillusioned by the industry, can offer the best customer service. Sometimes not. Just because a person has good hands, doesn't mean he has good people skills, no more than good people skills equals good hands. Sometimes seeing more than a "few scenarios" just means you can't get excited any more about pleasing dumb customers. No two instances are the same, no two people will act (or give back) the same. My experience, limited as it is, is that contract people tend to go for the money, (see numerous posts about pay and worth) and the full time have a bit more at stake in the company "IF" they are in for the long term. Money may or may not be the same, hours flown may or may not be close, but I'm not sure, as this originally started, that the full time guys are responsible for the driving down of wages. Value is a individual thing, and whether we are giving (justifying & cost) or receiving (return on investment) will depend on how good we (think we) are, or how good others think we are, will always be the item of disagreement. I try hard to be of value to my boss. If he agrees, I get to stay - and he pays me. Otherwise, I have to find a need and fill it, and then I get paid. I guess to me, Need does not equal Value, though Value may equal need... (I can still see daylight but I'm getting in pretty deep, I think!) kjw57
FYI Definition of a rumor Rumour;1. a story or statement talked of as news without any proof that it is true. 2.vague, general talk here we go again. I can't help but think that if it wasn't an election year (in Canada) that our (Canadian) "economic disaster" would pretty much be a non-event. I suppose we can thank messer's. Dion & Layton for provding the media with some "Canadian content " re: financial meltdown otherwise we just might of had to remain content with references to the fundamental strengths of our economy...how boring, panic is way more fun!! Thanks for the goodtimes Stephane and Jack.
