Need Advise From Ontario

Ontario guys,

I will be flying a machine across Ontario next month- headed for B.C. from Quebec.

How's the best way to get from Mirabel to Winnipeg- I heard that some of the small airports don't have fuel sales anymore as well as we got a nasty callout charge and fuel price at Chapleau last time (2005)- Also grumpy attendant lady.

Don't like big airports- too much radio talk.

Don't tell that to your boss....i will give the flight to another. You chould know by now how to prepare a traveling flight. Lots of phone calls and an updeted CFS will tell you everything you need to know.

Sling,

I have done it before- years ago- just seeing if any locals have a better way to go.

P.S. Unfortunately, I am the boss

Where in Quebec are you starting?

I have complete the route several times in the last couple of years. The two routes I have used depending on the weather has either been via Val D'Or - Timmins - geraldton - dryden - kenora and then to Winni or around the great lake if the weather is not too bad. North bay around the lake to thunder bay (at either wawa or marthon they did have self serve fuel) and then there is a small airport after thunder bay before winni (I have a memory of a sieve) but the guy there was awesome, i think it was Atikan or something

Also what are you flying because that makes a huge difference on the legs, especially from an Astar to a 205!

I did the trip a couple of years ago from Golden BC to to Chibougamau PQ in a B2. The route I took was Brandon CYBR, Winnipeg CYWG (did not need to stop but stopped to spend the night with family), Kenora CYQK, Thunderbay CYQT, Geraldton CYGQ, Kapuskasing CYYU, Matagami CYNM and then off to Matagami.

If you would like the rest of the route past Manitoba let me know. I never had a problem getting fuel, but like I said it was a couple of years ago.

Good luck and have fun!!!

I did it twice, from Calgary, once in a 47 when the dinosaurs roamed the world (took two weeks) and a 206. Weather was the problem both times, both were winter trips. Only problem I had for fuel was in Quebec. Lady at the FBO pretended not to speak English, so I told her in English I would be at a Hotel until they fueled me up. Got fuel in 5 minutes. Everybody else in Quebec were fantastic. I carred jugs with me on both trips, just in case.
