This is a bargaining unit position restricted to current civil service employees represented by the Nova Scotia Government Employees Union. Duties

 

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, the aircraft maintenance engineer carries out the daily and periodic inspections and repairs on the rotary wing aircraft. This includes servicing, troubleshooting, and parts replacement of airframe, electrical, avionics, turbine engines and other components in accordance with Transport Canada regulations, manufacturers specifications, and department aircraft maintenance control manual at home base and in the field. He/she will also be required to repair and maintain aircraft shop and ground handling equipment and facilities.

 

Qualifications

 

Grade 10 plus Transport Canada Aviation Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license M1 and M2 with an endorsement for the Bell 212 or the MD 500 helicopter . Preference will be given to candidates with endorsements and experience on MD 500 and/or Bell 212. Applicants must possess competent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, sound judgement and initiative. Aircraft Maintenance Engineer licenses must be provided at interview. Must be available to work other than regular hours on short notice, specifically on weekends and holidays, particularly during forest fire season. Required to work alone with limited supervision. A valid driver's license is required.

 

Classification Range: MOS 18 - 24

 

Salary Range: $38,937 - $49,546
