K-flex Driveshaft Tool

We need a K-flex driveshaft removal tool for an L-4- Anyone out there have any ideas on the best one that doesn't cost too much, and easy to use? The hand made ones apparently we cannot use anymore.

I find that there is enough play to remove the shaft using just my fingers.

The proper tool from Kaflex does hang on the wall just in case.

I have also heard of this before. It may be what we do too.

Watch which one you get. There are three out there. The two older ones with the turn buckles have different thickness ends that fit on on the shaft. The new one with the white plastic blocks and wing nuts doesn't work on older shafts. Not sure if there's a -# shaft that corresponds to a tool or not.

 

For what the **** shaft costs, Kamatics ought to give you one with the driveshaft.

 

I "know a guy" that had to use nylon tie down straps once......

Bell issued OSN 407-00-8 to explain why you need the proper tool (The old 407 shaft was the same as 206L4). I suspect there is a similar OSN for 206 series.

Call Product Support in Mirabel, PH# 1-800-363-8023.

They can help you out as to avoid damage to a very, very expensive shaft.

Bought the Kamatics tool ($400 USD) and it works fine. Sometimes it's just better to go with the OEM. Don't want to damage a very expensive shaft now.

we made one once out of two hardware store turnbuckles and heated and bent the eyes down so they would fit over a nut and not slip off. just tighten them each evenly and it holds the shaft nicely. but the kamatics ones also work just as well.

Cliff notes on what the specific issue of just wresting it in there is? I think that technique is the one I see used most often... I'll look it up tomorrow if I remember, but I probably won't
