1,000 Hours To Fly Non-family Members?

Some of you may have heard about the very sad R44 crash that killed four in Maryland last week. (Has it been a crappy run for pilots lately, or what?) Going through news alerts this morning, I saw this press release:

... in which a wrongful death lawyer says he believes that only pilots with at least 1,000 hours should be allowed to fly non-family members. Huh. What do y'all think about that?

Non Family members are people too. Should not be allowed to fly ANY pax until 600 hours

There are dumb statements made by people, but that happens to be one of the better ones. If he is such a great lawyer why does he not take out a Class Action Suit against the FAA on behalf of all passengers killed in accidents with the pilot having less than his stated hours.

 

Again, O great one, what are you basing your statement on??????

And all drivers (of automobiles) should be required to take an anuual road test and be prohibited from carrying passengers outside of family until they have driven 50,000 miles (80,000 kms).

Wow I've even heard of guys with over a 1000 hrs doing stupid things and killing people. How in the h3ll do you get 1000 hrs without having passengers?

I think that the lawyer should not be allowed to represent non-family members until he's had 1000 cases! Let's see how that makes him feel...
