Just heard that there's a big fire brewing in Whistler, two tankers from Abbotsford on their way and some local buckets dropping water on it already. What's the scoop?

Standing outside just a couple of minutes ago, Firecats, Convair, Electra and a all the local machines bucketing from Green Lake.

 

It was a lightening strike, been rumbling around here all afternoon, and is now probably 8-10 ha. being blown uphill into the alpine and abit south.

 

The boys will be able to put jam on their toast this winter after all!

My brother (who lives in Van just told me about this.

 

He and I were just riding the Bike Park this past Friday and Sat.

 

Every time I've been up there at this time of year I've looked around and thought, "This place would go up like a tinder box."

 

I hope it stays under control. That is arguably my favourite place on Earth

Spent most of the day on it with 2 vertols and a chinook. lots of lightening fires in the surrounding valleys. have some pics but PVL internet won't let me upload them.
