I've done it plenty in the eighties/nineties, but can't recall ever trying it within town limits. Flew out of Kenora for almost ten years, and I know that parking lot. I can't imagine that crew not getting abit of flack.

They should have used the DNR pad downtown....usually not busy at this time of year and people expect helos in and out of there

There used to be a truck stop on the Trans-Canada just outside of Kenora with a field beside it. That truckstop had the biggest freshest cinammon buns you've ever seen ! ! ! I wonder if it still there?

Icewind...you are correct about that one...john flesher was friends with the owners...use to stop there often with the 204 and always raved about the the dessert don't know if they are still there....will ask the bartman

Once you've asked the landowner (city) and the LEA to secure the area, you're good to go...yes, it was a slow news day, no doubt. Funny that yellow choppers with a red stripe don't get a second thought from the local folks, but when you look like a flying sludge pond...
