I know we have a rememberance thread.....but I just thought it fitting to acknowledge that passing of Dave (Cap) here in the helicopter ops section.

A long standing and respected aviator in our industry for sure.

Condolences to Dave's surviving family and friends. He was also a big part of our family.....the helicopter industry.

RIP Dave.

Sadly, a bright new star has been added to our skies.

Indeed very fitting Bob, Mr Cap is deserving of a thread of his own for sure, in fact he could very well own a section of his own.

Most sincerest condolences to Dave's family and friends. Without a doubt, we all share a profound sadness today, not to mention a heck of a pit in our hearts.

Lord Alfred Tennyson

Sunset and evening star,

And one clear call for me!

And may there be no moaning of the bar,

When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,

Too full for sound and foam,

When that which drew from out the boundless deep

Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,

And after that the dark!

And may there be no sadness of farewell,

When I embark;

For tho’ from out our bourne of Time and Place

The flood may bear me far,

I hope to see my Pilot face to face

When I have cross’d the bar.

The call finally came Dave, Godspeed and clear skies.

Condolences to Val and the kids.

Regards

Dave was and is my friend! A fellow aviator and a brother in arms! I will miss the friendly banter, I will miss the drinks, but more importantly, I will miss Dave!

A lot of the little remaining fun, just left this business!!

I'll tip a few (may be more) today, Dave! And I shall be thankfull that I can count you among the very few that I have and shall ever call my fiend!! One of the very few that knew me, and knew what I was and am!

Fly safe Buddy!

I learned more from Dave in the few dozen exchanges of messages here than I did through 7 years of University. From specifics on the aviation industry, to military life in Vietnam, to life after Vietnam, to living with the effects of post traumatic stress disorder, to growing beyond it... to growing up with a Mother in the aviation industry, to red corvettes. Endlessly encouraging, classy, and kind. He offered "above and beyond," and was an enormous and delightful contribution.

Truly a rare find.

Deepest condolences to family, friends and loved ones.

Rest in Great Natural Peace, Dave.

My best,

Sheri Bakes
