I didn't realize the 'flipside' to seeking CAMTS accreditations.

 

If CAMTS is not the route chosen for accreditation / third party consideration of practices - what are some of the other routes company's can take / have taken to instill the same kind of checks and balances?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I discussed this briefly with the author of the story, Guy. First, note that we can only speak to the aviation side of the house — the medical side of the equation is beyond Vertical's scope.

 

As Guy noted in the article, Helicopter Association International is currently exploring an industry-wide accreditation program that would go beyond its current "Platinum" program. Whether other accreditation programs come into existence remains to be seen.

 

That said, HAI already has some great safety-related resources on its (recently redesigned) website, rotor.com. Note especially the page of Safety Links, which includes a link to the International Helicopter Safety Team's SMS Toolkit, plus other terrific resources. It's a good starting point for investigating how other companies have implemented safety checks and balances, whether in conjunction with or independently of accreditation.
