Montreal Tv Chopper Crash

Recommended Posts

Yes, it's an R44 (C-GDSF). Drove by the scene on my way to work this morning. The pilot walked away, while the reporter, sitting in the left rear seat was trapped. It took firefighters over an hour to get him out.

The pilot declared an emergency with Montreal-Trudeau tower due to "mechanical problems". He performed a forced landing between the Bonaventure highway and Mel's Studios. Not a nice place to land. Lot's of wires and uneven ground. Machine rolled on landing. Completely destroyed.

Good thing is, nobody died.

Pilot has a broken back (being operated today) and reporter has multiple fractures to his pelvis, but won't need surgery.

From the injuries and wreckage, looks like they came down hard.
