CTV had a similar shot on the news tonight but I am sure it was from the opposite direction. Tough to watch.

That is tough to watch! My condolences to the pilots family. As an aside, it would appear the pilot potentially saved bystanders from injury as he guided it to the grassy spot where he went in. Kudos!

I'm not a french machine fan, any body have any idea what model ship that was?? Looks like loss of tail rotor authority, but difficlut to see with the machine roating at that speed!!

 

Looks like it happend quite quickly too, that machine went straingt down. Appears that MR blades were rotating???

 

Condolences to the families!!! Such a tragic loss!!

Apparetly a mechanical TR drive failure of some sort, this from the pprune site.
