I think you might be absolutely correct icewind - Gazelles would explain why I couldn't really figure out what they were. Was this the Quebec Air Force in action? I can't think who else would have Allouette 3's and Gazelles in QC? Other than the French military - maybe there was an invasion going on?

I know of 1 gazelle left in Canada and Helibellule operates it at the Mirabel Airport.

But Allouette 3's holy molly I thought they were gone a long time ago <_<

I think I will go with the invasion theory

Anybody know what it costs just for a little old pilot to attend. Considering HAC's superb reputation in supporting crews I bet its really affordable??? :)

P5

The cost of getting in the trade show for an individual was brought up at the AGM and it sounds like there will be an attempt to get it addressed. As for the "superb reputation in supporting crews", do you care to elaborate??

It was a pretty bizarre sight, and they flew a couple of circuits in formation. The Griffon's were at the front and rear. I wonder if anyone took a picture of them and could post it here to prove that I'm not making this up (or worse, imagining it).

Updated - I was just reading that they were from the French helicopter carrier "Jeanne d’Arc", that was visiting QC.

There was a French helicopter carrier in port. It will be their last visit before being decommissioned later this year. The form flight with French Navy Gazelles, an Alouette II and III was to commemorate the event. We were just walking out of the Hilton when they went by. I'm trying to track down a photo from 430 Sqn in Valcartier.

As for the costs of attending the show...I brought up during the AGM that there should be a job fair day during one of the days, and it should be FREE. There are allot more grey heads (me included) walking around the show than there was 10 years ago, but I see fewer and fewer low-time pilots and apprentices. The Association should be doing more to attract people to the convention than sway them away with high fees. I think the board got the message. Fred Jones has indicated that he likes the idea and wants to look at this more closely. Stay tuned!

A big thank you to everyone that stopped by the booth. Your positive feedback is what keeps us going!.

Biggs...sorry we didn't get more time to chat. It has been a long time!

Apprentices and low time engineers can barely afford to eat let alone go to trade shows.

And the difference compared to high time engineers is?

(This is after finding out what autocad graduates make as a starting wage)
