Gom Drilling Moratorium

I was reading the vertical article about the drilling moratorium and how its affecting helicopters.

I noticed a facebook comment at the bottom from some mouth-breather that posted "Obama, not my president"

 

Which my keen sense of perception would indicate to me that he disapproves of the moratorium. And 3 other people "liked" his post.

 

So what say you? Is the drilling ban the right thing to do or is it a knee-jerk reaction by a "Washington Elite"?

 

(I would have posted this in the Offshore forum, but there doesn't seem to be much traffic there.)

Another question would be, has the GOM disaster changed or reaffirmed any feelings you may have about potential drilling off the west coast of BC?

 

Despite the obvious huge boon it would create for Canadian heli pilots, this disaster has strengthened my support for the existing moratorium. Call it NIMBYism, but I can't imagine having such a disaster along our coast. Not worth it in my very humble opinion.

I should clarify, I mean the current offshore BC drilling moratorium that's been in place since the '70s.

Indeed. One would think that they would learn from their mistakes but I guess the all mighty dollar rules once again. The moratorium was three months late, and has been overturned this last week by a Louisiana judge.

 

Kinda makes you wonder if it's worth having children sometimes.
