Custom Grid System For Garmin Gps When Fire Fighting

Hello everyone, When supporting fire fighting crews, they tend to make their own grid system to the maps, dividing sectors into finer resolution and/or giving the Long coordinates letter identifiers and the Lat coordinates numbers in the Fire Zone. Does any body have experience in how to create and setup a custom grid/custom map on the Garmin GPSmap (I have the Garmin 296)? I would appreciate some guidance on how to do this. Many thanks. S.P.
