Apart from forestry,Tourism, its a resource based industry. The resource based industries are having a shite time now. Just look at logging in BC. The problem is deeper than this and is based on the plain and simple fact that when Lehman Brothers went Tits up millions of people lost big time including lending mechanisms. It started getting harder for small and med size companies to secure that all once easy accessible credit that they used have easy access to for things like " resource based exploration" Combine this with a high Canadian dollar and low resource raw material costs with gold as the exception and there you have it.

 

Everything is in Canada unfortunately like it or not is based on the strenght of the USA and how well their economy is doing. So if you want better times start praying for a strengthening US economy and the effects will be felt in Canada shortly.
