Three_Per
Here are the three best images I could find on the net of the helicopter that was supposedly downed during the raid on Osama Bin Laden's compound. Can anyone identify the wreckage? Some people are saying it's a modified Blackhawk other are pointing to an entirely new and secret heli being used by the US Military. What are your thoughts? Mark_
Sounds like it may have been a modified Blackhawk to be more stealthy. http://www.aviationweek.com/aw/blogs/defense/index.jsp?plckController=Blog&plckBlogPage=BlogViewPost&newspaperUserId=27ec4a53-dcc8-42d0-bd3a-01329aef79a7&plckPostId=Blog%3a27ec4a53-dcc8-42d0-bd3a-01329aef79a7Post%3a275902dd-e7a2-40fd-ab78-d46e3bf922b1&plckScript=blogScript&plckElementId=blogDest
helidom
Looks like smoke and mirrors to me! I can't see how those little tail blades would have any affect at all on such a large tail section.
__________
Still looks similar to the Comanche Fenestron Tailrotor which just fell out of the shrouding. I would think after the US military spending all that money on the development they would still have some stealth helicopters, even Japan built somthing similar. The Comanche is not a new aircraft and can even fly sideways or rearwards at 70mph and i wouldn't doubt if they have made some upgrades over the years......
