Well, words cannot sum up the feelings that news like this bring on. Our sincere regret and condolences to the family of the pilot, and to the friends and colleagues left behind. Let's all be careful

...."Rumor is caught the water bucket,,,, "

Caught in what ???? Maybe in the "tail rotor" that came off in the previous post???

These two posts are so unrelated to each other that one of them (or both?) is obviously incorrect, and one of the posters is going to look very silly.

Let's please stay away from rumours and "what-you-heard" until something more definite is known.

We would all like to know what caused the loss of a fellow pilot, but more importantly we all wish it had never happened in the first place, and won't happen again.

So out of respect for our lost brother, can we please keep these posts to what is actually 'known'?

Thanks, OT

"tail rotor came off" Bucket may have caught"

These two are not unrelated at all. there is always the possibility that the bucket "caught" in the water causing a dynamic roll over effect (with a belly load they are possible in any direction) if that was the case, then the tail may have touched the water and an imbalance could make it detach.

There is no disrespect in these posts if we are trying to ascertain the cause of an accident that took a good friend and college and if from that we learn to avoid the same fate.

I have nothing but the most heartfelt sympathies for our families and friends but there is no blame to lay and no set period to grieve before talking.

The families will be first to tell us; find out how it happened and try to make sure it doesn't happened to someone else

If you're interested in discussing hazards and safety while bucketing, please contribute to the new thread: Bucketing Hazards.

Maybe we can leave this thread for condolences and commiseration...
