A Canadian work visa should be just as difficult to obtain as a EU working visa for a Canadian pilot going the other way(at least I hope it is). A conversion of your EASA license on the other hand should set you back a fraction of the cost, nerves and time that it would cost me to get mine converted to whatever European country you come from.Oh,BTW....are your 1800 hrs "air time " or "flight time"?

deuce bigalow
I'm 1800 air time, more than 1500 PIC, and more 700 twin helicopters. As you may have noticed from the tone of the few reply's to your question there is a lack of welcome offered to foreign pilots here in Canada. This is because the helicopter business has been slow for the past many years and it has been very difficult for Canadian's to get a start in aviation. In addition to that, many pilots from Australia and New Zealand have come here on work visas and there is a perception that they are working for less money and taking Canadian jobs. I personally don't agree with this since I have worked outside of Canada a lot and feel that the system should work both ways. To answer your question, the Canadian government has tightened the regulations allowing foreign pilots to work here in the past few years so it won't be easy for you to come here and work. I would guess it is at least as difficult as USA but that is a guess. But it is not impossible. Your best bet would be the nearest Canadian consulate to get the exact requirements for a work visa. Good luck.
Guest 47yrLowTimer
You can apply for a Working Holiday Visa if you are between 18-35 years old. It would allow you to work in Canada for a year. http://www.international.gc.ca/experience/intro_incoming-intro_entrant.aspx?lang=eng&view=d
