Canadian Visa Working

Recommended Posts

I'm 1800 air time, more than 1500 PIC, and more 700 twin helicopters.

What type of flying did you do? If you have no vert ref time you might as well been flying a fridge. How do you get twin time with such low hours?

I'd like to fly in Europe I have 2500 hrs W/vert ref no twin time please tell me how I can find work there before I spend a pile of money. Thanks in advance

As you may have noticed from the tone of the few reply's to your question there is a lack of welcome offered to foreign pilots here in Canada. This is because the helicopter business has been slow for the past many years and it has been very difficult for Canadian's to get a start in aviation.

In addition to that, many pilots from Australia and New Zealand have come here on work visas and there is a perception that they are working for less money and taking Canadian jobs.

I personally don't agree with this since I have worked outside of Canada a lot and feel that the system should work both ways.

To answer your question, the Canadian government has tightened the regulations allowing foreign pilots to work here in the past few years so it won't be easy for you to come here and work. I would guess it is at least as difficult as USA but that is a guess.

But it is not impossible. Your best bet would be the nearest Canadian consulate to get the exact requirements for a work visa.

Good luck.

Thanks very much for your reply.

Here in europe we have the same problems with young and lower time pilots, I thinks it's the same around the work right now...

I don't understand why people have problem with foreign pilots, in Europe all years I work with foreign pilots and we are one team..

Maybe this times it's not easy to try to move overseas.

in Jaa land we have strong rules and for this reason we fly lots twin helicopters. Right now I am working for fires...not flying like a fridge...

Right for economy crisis the companies are losing contracts and I don't know what happen but I think should be possible to get a job.
