Skidz
You won't likely hear anything more for at least a year. That's how long the TSB (our equivalent to your NTSB) takes to release findings. The preliminary hypotheses will probably be published in the next Vortex accident synopsis though... http://www.tc.gc.ca/civilaviation/systemsa.../tp202/menu.htm
transquebecniece
Geez. You would think I should know by now how long these things take. I guess I was thinking (hoping) that the investigative process had improved in 20 years. Thanks for the link...
Elvis
You got that right TQN our TSB( or in french BST) sucks compared to the NTSB for keeping the aviation world informed.
transquebecniece
Unfortunately, the NTSB isn't always that swift either. It's a waiting game.
skullcap
NTSB and the US sytem of accident investigation is by no means better then TSB am afraid. How many accident investigation agencies "allow" the engine from accident machine to go to the engine manufactures for "analysis". You won't see that in Canada. If you want to see thorough procedures check out the uk system, they will not leave a stone unturned. Hold your horses and we'll find out what happened to car44. IMHO he carb iced and fell down, as was mentioned, the weather wasn't that bad and was some cloud cover,(humidity). Probably flying along the edge of valley as most helicopter pilots do and the friggin thing burped. Sad and could happen to the best of us. sc
407 Driver
Skull, It could have been that or simply just trying to climb up through a small hole to get "on top"..... May not have had the climb rate to get through and to remain VFR. It was a thick and sticky fog layer that day, We locals struggled all day to get work done. He crashed approx 30 Km west of the main Columbia Valley, in the rugged terrain way up Findlay Ck.
transquebecniece
"Hold your horses" and "friggin thing burped." I love it! You have a great way with words, skullcap! And I will hold my horses to see if that friggin thing burped! Just don't like holdin' my horses too long; I'm an impatient girl!
skullcap
Didn't know that, have been up there only fraction of times as you, it can be a bit decieving, you may be right. Hope his family is coping ok. Shinola. sc
skullcap
Sorry TQN, didn't mean anything by that, agree that it is a bit frustrating but, patience is a virtue remember, so virtuous people be patient. Or is that patient people be virtuous or virgins be patient ahhh I donno know...think I'll just shuttup now with said foot in mouth, or hand in mouth or hand in foot or or or sorry. sc
transquebecniece
Funny guy, skullcap. I was just teasing you. Anyway, his family won't be okay until they know what happened. They have only partial closure for now because they were able to give him a proper burial. Only a cause will give full closure. That much I know. It's an awful void to be stuck in. But all in due time...and I'll work on that patience thing.
