Wayne Johnson - Black Swan Heli

This is very sad news. Wayne gave me that first job and I can't thank him enough for that. Wayne would always find the time to talk with low timers even when there was no work for them. Talk about a great guy who really has seen it all. My best wishes to you Wayne and Linda during these hard times. Get well soon.

Just heard from Linda they've been meeting with specialists, and he needs to under go a few more tests to nail down exactly what exact type of cancer he has so they can help him. It sounds like there might be a few options to keep him comfortable once they determine the exact type.

Linda is overwhelmed with the support they have been receiving from everyone, to quote her "It warms my hart that so many people feel the same we all do about Wayne."

For those of you that don't know at Black Swan COB has a double meaning, a male Swan and "Crusty Old *******" in the kindest way of course. :)

I visited Wayne yesterday morning, just before he was to be moved to the Cross Cancer Institute from the UofA Hospital. Wayne was 'soldiering' as well as he could, but he was clearly in serious distress after having spent a very difficult night. He asked me to thank all you good folks that are sending your encouraging wishes to him. Linda and other family were there, of course, and looking forward to more help for Wayne at the CCI. I hope to perhaps see him again Thursday.

Wayne is one of the best!! This is tough news for sure. First met Wayne when I was on "loan" from Associated Heli to Okanagan Heli maintaining 212's by Tumbler Ridge. Wayne was in marketing then, and made good things happen, much different than the others. Of course later on with CHW he did great things again, and overcame much as well, as did Linda while there too!

My thoughts and prayers are for you both at this time, even though it's been a while since I last saw you...keep strong my friends!!

Only met Wayne and Linda once when looking for work as a low timer, but i remember them as very warm, polite, genuine people. Definitely think he is one of the good ones, seems like a lot of people agree here. I am in Dawson Creek and was thinking of stopping by to say hello on Friday on my way to Peace River, so quite the shock here. I wish both Wayne and Linda the best in what must be a very difficult time and the thought that in many ways, big and small, Wayne is remembered very fondly. Stay strong.

Regards,
