Isn't there another hotel in town other than the Nugget?...correct me if I'm wrong but the place I stayed had a club in back, I think the club was called Saphires?

Not too sure about the name, couldn't read all that well with beer glasses on!

I heard of a place called the silver nugget but didnt actually see it.

There is a Golden & a Silver Nugget I think. Stayed there a couple of years ago, but only because it was the last place in town...!

 

We had hoped that the Golden Nugget would be better than the Silver Nugget (because Gold is worth more than Silver - right?) but if that was the case, the Silver Nugget must be pretty bad, or we made a big mistake!!

 

Geraldson fire base was old, but nice location down by the lake, haven't been to the new site at the airport.

 

Hopefully Ontario will burn again... :up:

Wasn't it in Northern Ontario a few years ago that a fire-stomper was caught lighting fires ? I think it was his idea of an "employment opportunity program"... :down:

i remember way back an ol' timer pilot told me:

 

"you flick out a cigarette, you got a 1 in 1000 chance of a fire. a white owl cigar? about a 1 in 100........ now a flare? that pretty much gives you a 1 in 1!!!"

 

when it comes to predicting a season? just remember, all it has to do is be dry for 24 hours in summer and we are in the extreme........... :up:

 

when i worked in one particular province a new rule went out. no hiring locals for fires. i.e. they would fly in the southern boys to work in the north and northern boys to fly in the south. in an effort to stop the "black lightning"!
