Fire Season

Recommended Posts

Well officially Fire Season starts March 1st in Alberta but considering there's still 3 feet of snow in the bush, I think it will be a little later when things kick off.

I got the impression that this has been a fairly mild winter (based on things around home in Edmonton)... is this not the case elsewhere?

Have to concur with drkrider, there's about three + feet of snow in the bush and about a foot and a half of fairly solid wind blown on most of the lakes in my neck of the woods. Good time to pull out the snow shoes and give yourself a bit of a work out.

Not sure what part of Canada you are in Wildrose but where i am the ground is like concrete and i am not energetic enough to find out how far down the frost goes. Maybe you are on the West Coast? :)

We still have 2 months of Heliskiing to get through! Fires seem a long way off. Come May though it usually happens much faster than lots of folks are ready for.

Spring in the Kooteneys, worst snow year in a long time. Early to guess but the Columbia Valley is looking prime!

Kootenay region snowpack is currently 97% and Columbia region is 93%.
