There's more than one company out in western Canada slammed for pilots and engineers. Don't know if it's quality/qualifications (or lack thereof) of candidates, pay scales, lack of advertising, or unwillingness of some to go where the work is, but some companies are having trouble keeping up with demand. It may be a temporary blip or maybe some contracts have just shifted from one company to others, but there is busy work out there...

Not much that can be immediately done if the pool is empty, maybe invest in your company/the industry's future by hiring/training low-time pilots.

Possative side to it all, last year I enjoyed a summer off with my family, hard on the bank but worth it. I am sure when I am grey and old on my death bed I will remember that summer more than any ot

Just wondering how everyone is finding this season shaping up so far.   Is anybody out there finding it very busy?

The VFR industry in Canada is by and large a seasonal employment gig. Unless you are in Mgmt or work for a company that pays and keeps crews year round. Very few. It's pogee for most. It would be nice

As I understand it, some (many?) pilot requirements in terms of experience often come from the client or insurance companies. If a large number of clients or insurance companies in the industry request pilots with X number of hours, it can make training low timers difficult.

You're right, lunchbox, it's a vicious cycle. Everyone acknowledges it, nothing ever seems to get done to fix it. HAC/SMS/TC, are you listening?
