Barrier Nets In Bell Mediums

Recommended Posts

I heard a rumor (true or not I don't know) that Barrier nets, between the cockpit and main cabin of the Bell Mediums (204/205/212S/212/412) is not legal?

I have operated with one the last 3 years (as long as I have been on mediums), and I have been under the impression that they were required?

I certainly find them useful when loading as when have lots of baggage/Cargo etc. it will fit between the barrier and the tie-down net, and the pax have the space left over.

But recently an engineer told me that this is actually illegal, and that there is an SB or AD out with regards to fires and people being stuck without enough exits to get out...

Do any of you fine folk have any input as to whether this is true or not??

Cheers

There's an AD concerning the head rests (CF-91-29R1)on the 4 man seat that requires that you check that the quick pins and head rests do indeed quickly move / remove in case of an accident.

I've always made sure the top of the net is undone and folded down when we have have passengers just in case they need out in a hurray through the front.

Yeah, I knew about the headrests.

If I have limited or no bags, I use the spare penalty box for bags and the nets, and leave the cabin open, But the net is quick release too so should be easy (relatively) to get down quickly.

I use it for my own protection as well.
