Should Be Interesting

Airbus had nothing that fit the RFP requirements and therefore didnt bid, While the 145 T2 would certainly have been a contender it is not certified in Canada.

Bell won with the only machine that came out to play and met the performance criteria stated in the RFP.

The 429's will be a huge improvement over the BO 105's and I personally can hardly wait to see the damned things gone.

Seems to me that AW and Eurocopter would have had a better chance (in court and the bidding) had they submitted proposals. By not participating they somewhat waived the right to challenge the process. At least if they bid and lost they could challenge the process as Boeing did when the US fuel tanker contract was awarded to Airbus.

The contract was written for the 429. Airbus didn't have a machine that met the specs the way it was written. I'm not sure their bid would even be accepted if it didn't meet the bid criteria.

This happens all the time. A contract is written to exclude an operator, aircraft type etc.
