blindpilot
I'm starting my instructor rating in Canada and would like to know how everyone else managed to pass it. What books did you use for study material? How long did it take most? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks! 350B3
Contact Culhane they make a great series of manuals that cover the subject. Print off the requirements from the Transport Canada web site. 30 hrs of training required about 2 months by the time your done, but usually it takes 3 months. You will be required to make lesson plans. Learn powerpoint, have fun.
nuthin
If you are learning at an established school they should be able to provide everything you need. Practice exams, Sim time for the instrument stuff. Possibly even other instructors briefings-PPoint or Whiteboard. Learn from as many different instructors and in as many different areas as possible. You may find yourself working quickly after your endorsement and you will want a big quiver of locales to take those students. Most pilots find the patter a bit of a challenge as it is quite different than "normal" commercial work where we chew the fat with customers or say nothing at all. Everything that happens in flight the student can learn from even the instructors screw ups.
blindpilot
Thanks guys. It is definitely a challenge to try and teach someone who has been in the industry 45 years more than you have!
