VERTICAL REF
Looking at ordering new AE helmets. Couple of questions though for those that already have them. They ask for 1) plug impedance? 2) side connector / jack plug? 3) mic and boom? 4) microphone? What do you guys recommend (or what works) in our Canadian aircraft. Will be using the helmets in Astars and mediums. And what is the CEP kit? Thanks.
Bif
CEP = custom ear plugs Can't answer your other questions though, sorry...

Bif
Pug, you say? My, bad. CEP = Communications Ear Plug. Usually either reusable foam plugs, or actual custom moulded ear plugs, both with comms speakers wired in.
Helilog56
As for the original posters question...in my experience most civilian systems are in the 300 ohm range, and a dynamic high impudence mic will usually work well for all...but you should check what most of the aircraft have within your company!!!!!! And yes...CEP is a good choice to save your hearing....
Wildrose
If your going to be doing lots of slinging with the astar the AE may not be the best, doable but the bulky visor set up can rub the door more than you want. I have the CEP kit and hush liner in a Galet 050. Definitely worth the extra $250. My only suggestion with the CEP is to get the custom moulded earplugs ASAP after you get it in. My crushable tips are not nice on the ear canals. Costco can do a set for you for $100 give or take. If you go to a safety place that goes up to $300. Costco will drill out the hole so you can plug your mini speaker (which works in parallel with helmet) right into them. Other than that a helmet is a helmet. Saves your egg if you need it to. It's all about preference.
mini chopper
Stay away from AE!!!! I've had every helmet on the market and the AE are crap. I've owned two of them and they are not reliable and are bulky. Go with the Galet or the Gentex HGU 56.
jetranger_2000
Currently 7 of us using the alpha and we are slowly migrating to the gallet lids. We are finding that the AEs are not standing up to wear and tear and very difficult to get fitted correctly.
R0T0R
Can anyone give me any insight on this product? My liner is starting to come apart and I'd like to get this comfort kit but I dot want to throw money away. https://www.aviationsurvival.com/mobile/Alpha-Eagle-Helicopter-Helmet-Comfort-Kit_p_748.html#
