Is foreflight has something "in the pipe" for user waypoints management??
It is horrible to manage them one by one...

Importing OK, I figure your tutorial but it is a PITA if you ask me , hey I'm a bush pilot read "lazy" ;-)

What about EXPORTING waypoints I have thousands of thm and can't stand to scroll thru them anymore , but so far I haven't find an easy way to do it...

If foreflight would like to have us utility pilots on board (hey we must be thousands of potentials customers) they should come up with some sort of user waypoints management IMO.

What is your setup to manage your waypoints in Foreflight?

That's prime real estate and until foreflight resolves the waypoint issues. That spot is reserved for my 695.

There is no "waypoint issue" with Foreflight. You can now import KML files into Foreflight very easily (https://www.foreflight.com/support/user-waypoints/).

 

I upgraded my 296 to 695, huge disappointment, in reliability, it was very unreliable in uploading waypoints, very often it would power down in the middle of transfer, so I would need to retry the transfer numerous times until it hopefully succeeded. On one job, during power up, it performed a master reset and wiped all the waypoints, happened to another pilot I know who also had a 695. Was very frustrating and could have put me in a very awkward situation if I didn't have a paper copy of the waypoints coordinates in the cockpit. Garmin wanted $500 flat rate to repair, so that's when I sold it and bought the iPad, will never go back to Garmin, iPad does the job so much better. I also use Gaia GPS app, compliments Foreflight on certain types of jobs (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gaia-gps-topo-maps-trails/id329127297?mt=8)

 

As for mount, I upgraded to MyGoFlight Universal tablet mount (http://www.mygoflight.com/universal-tablet-mounts-1/). They have versions with one suction cup, two suction cups, or a vice/claw. I opted for the double suction cup (more versetile as I fly Bells as well as the Astars). It is a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for, outperforms RAM by a long shot. It's super easy to adjust, its adjustability is far superior to RAM and when you lock down the mount with the knob, it's really solid, whereas the RAM tended to droop during flight.

To each their own. I have had zero issues with the 695. I also like the fact that Ican backup all the data. I transferred all the 296 data onto it in seconds. After the 296 bit it.

 

I would like to see a breadcrumb trail and a few other things on foreflight before I commit.

Both Foreflight and Gaia GPS both backup their data to iCloud, so the backups are completely transparent.

A little work with Excel and GPSBabel and I have a .gdb file that I can edit with Basecamp/Mapsource and share with my Garmin equipped colleagues.

No need to mess with Excel or CSV files.

Simply export any GPS file (GPX or GDB) in Basecamp as a KML file, file name MUST BE user_waypoints.kml

This file can then be imported into ForeFlight using file sharing in iTunes.

Only limitation is that user waypoint names can not start with a number.
