Ipad Cigarette Usb Adapter

Anyone know of a cigarette USB adapter (28 volt) that will power my iPad using the receptacle currently powering my Garmin GPS?

Most 12v usb adapters work fine with 24 volts (make sure of course) but ipads draw a lot of amps so you want to make sure its a higher amperage rated one.

 

Its surprising how many of them don't even show what input voltages they require. I thought that was a requirement???

 

I'm using a random one I bought at london drugs but the one treetop posted above looks much better.

Check Aircraftspruce.ca under the iPad section.

Ensure that it's capable of outputting at least 2.1A for iPad charging.

Be careful!! I had a generic one that was rated 5-32 volts input and it cooked my iPhone using it in the aircraft. I would absolutely spend the money on the one treetopflyer suggested

Every Chinese electronic store in Vancouver / Richmond sells 12-24v usb cigarette adapters for about $3 dollars.

You want a device that's certified to work at least at 28V.

I use the Garmin fast charger. It's certified to use in aircraft power and gives the 2.1Amp to fast charge ipad (or even two ipads).

I have been using this one for the last year works great from best buy.

Dual head so I can charge iPad and gps reciever at the same time. Never an issue.

Had a garmin and it worked well but not a dual and the ipad doesnt seem to like usb splitters
