Before buying a skidlid, make sure that it is designed for helo operations. Some of the Gentex stuff is for nice warm, padded F18 cockpits. It may or may not have the impact protection you need and since you won't be punching out attached to the seat (unless things are really turning pear shaped...) that could be bad.
