This whole contract is actually quite brilliant for CHL.

Think about it.....what Do they do best??

Train people !

This is a win - win situation.

They can now train people, AND get paid... rather than just train crew, and then loose them to the competition.

Of course, the thought process comes around to instructors...I assume that they'd just pick up the present Instructors, as there aren't a bunch of qualified Instructors just laying around looking for work on any given day....so .... in typical CHW/L fashion, they can still mistreat and loose those valued employees.

Currently the Jet Rangers are leased to Bombardier. When they began this original contract they had to do some catching up on mods and ADs to get the aircraft their C of A.

The new contract will use the same Jet Rangers again. They will be painted dark blue and have air conditioning and rotor brakes installed. We loose one to two machines at a time beginning mid summer for these mods but continue to fly with a reduced course load during this time.

The 412s will be former CH146 Griffons. They will also be painted, have air conditioning installed and full glass cockpits installed. They will be referred to as the "412 CF".

The contractor will supply and maintain the aircraft. They will build a new facility to hangar the aircraft, the simulators and all classrooms and office space. The whole idea resembles what is in place in Moose Jaw. The contractor also supplies all simulator and ground school instructors while the military continues to supply instructor pilots for both helos.

The contract also includes brand new King Air C90s with full glass, but they can't hover so who cares! ;)

It will all be on the news tomorrow as per this link:

That does it I for one will not turn a blade this summer until my Jetranger has Air Conditioning installed as well, how about the rest of you? god knows we need it here in Canada at least 3 days per year.

DTII

I would love to know what the lucky guy who sells the Air Cond to the Military will be charging to mod each machine.
