bigD 41
N1, I read some of the posts on this thread from previous years. It's crazy how these guys can keep there licence after being convicted for flying drugs across the border and become one of the top leaders under 40 in Canada's helicopter industry. bigD 41
i. I'am confuse ! Who's this guy again ? Sorry this was the first time I read this thread. I was reading the older posts from early 2000's and recognized a name I saw published in one of our industries magazines last year. I was just a bit shocked. I had thought you'd lose your licence for running drugs across the border. I guess not.
heli_08 14
BigD, I guess you've never made a mistake before eh? I know I was younger once and made some decisions that I regret, I say good on people who can rise above their previous mistakes and become industry leaders.
R0T0R 310
Heli_08 don't be too shocked...this industry is not forgiving at all. Unfortunately our industry tends to revolve around stepping over your peers to rise. Not all mind you but there are those that do and it makes us all look bad.
Taco Bell 3
Flying drugs across the border = TFW..............
bigD 41
Heli 08, sure I have made mistakes. No one is perfect. But flying drugs across the border is a mistake that most of the professional pilots in Canada would not make. In my opinion it's more than just a mistake. It's a decision and with all the PDM courses we take you think this decision would not be made personal or as a pilot. What are we teaching the new up and comers. It's ok to fly drugs across the border to pay off your license and build hours?????? Maybe next you should go to bat for all the pedophiles that have done there time, and want to work in preschools.
freck 221
i thought most I these smugglers didn't even have licences.
Twin Helix 105
It's a helluva carrot to dangle in front of a low-time guy/gal with 50-75k in new debt...as far as more experienced pilots that would do it...ego and greed are my best guesses.
N1 7
And yet more convictions. http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/crime/canadian-in-helicopter-drug-smuggling-ring-pleads-guilty/
