I've just been doing CRM for a company whose customer's risk assessment people restricted landings to 7 a day because that fitted their model.

 

And consultants? Are we talking about people who ran out of fuel in flight? Or who ran off the end of a runway and got it extended, neglecting to mention that they actualy started to take off from the middle? With that sort of background, it's no wonder we're in trouble!

There are approx 900 commercial charter helicopters in Canada! This does not include military, government, or private use. In other words, 900 that you need a PPC to fly!

Hi Downwash - maybe you know who I'm talking about, but, fixed wing or not, that guy is instrumental in a lot of helicopter decisions right now.

 

And the other example was in either a Lama or an Alouette - he told me, but I forgot.

What is the average of pilot to working machine numbers? I know this all depends on variables but a mean average?

Yeah, too true, Phil! I suppose you could put it down to another example of people of our particular (RW) persuasion not seizing the initiative and offering a like service with a more credible knowledge and experience base.

Strange, what? Given that they've accepted 'advice' in the first place, wouldn't it follow that they'd accept an even more credible variety? Or is that just my idealism showing again? And why is this post comprised of nothing but questions?

people in business will still, it seems, pay good money to hear what they want to hear as opposed to the reality of what they need to hear..

 

we were doing some fire training for a client last fall and he got his nose out of joint when one of our contract instuctors gave him some hard truth about the shape of his firefighting equipment... he called us last month to see if we would come do some more training on foam and handlines minus the fellow mentioned before... my boss told him no... we're there the end of the month!! :up:
