Saifan Pilot
I’ve created a cheap simple barrel lifter you can carry with you easily on tours. Thought I’d share the idea with everyone. All you need is these two items from Home Depot: Everbilt 3-1/2 Inch Tarp Rope Hook in Zinc Model # 858-087: https://www.homedepot.ca/product/everbilt-3-1-2-inch-tarp-rope-hook-in-zinc-1pc/1000772598 Simpson Tie Connector for 2x Joist/Post Model # RTR: https://www.homedepot.ca/product/simpson-strong-tie-rtr-20-gauge-rigid-tie-connector-for-2x-joist-post/1000427159 5 × 1”½ decking or construction screws. To add strength to the hook, drill a 3ʳᵈ hole in between the existing 2 holes. Flatten out the tie connector so it’s trapezoid shape. When you get to your work site, simply find a scrap 2×4 or sturdy tree branch, cut it down to 3’ length. Attach the hook about 11” from the end of the 2×4 and the tie connector at the end of the 2×4. When tour is done, simply disassemble the hardware and carry with you on your next tour.

Iceman
We used to weld a small metal hook near the end of the bung wrench that would catch the barrel lip. Made tipping drums twice as easy.

What does slinging barrels or Crosby hooks have to do with a barrel lifter idea? 1

Definitely off topic from the original thread, but I’ll bite. Not approved by who and under what standard?
