Machine Down

heard on the news that a machine went into widgeon lake north of pitt meadows.

 

all 3 people ok but machine in the lake.......

 

anyone know who it was?

CBC News - Three people escaped unhurt after a sightseeing helicopter lost power and crash landed in Widgeon Lake near Coquitlam on Sunday.

 

The 56-year-old pilot and his two passengers – a 42-year-old man and his 11-year-old son – had to scramble to safety after the chopper went down.

 

The helicopter sank to the bottom of the lake in nearly 15 metres of water.

 

Another helicopter pilot picked them up after spotting their SOS written out on the shore – and the trio waving to attract his attention.

 

The accident is now under investigation.

That's an awesome lake, did my float training out of there, if anyone gets a chance to stop in, it's well worth it. My initials are in the cabin somewhere.

turns out it was a private guy, out of ZBB i think. over pitched at the higher altitude in his enstrom................

thats an easy thing to do in an enstrom. Those things freak me out.

Why do they freak you out? - Properly flown they are a great little machine and you would be surprised what they can do - even at altitude.

I'm surprised they fly with more than one POB. Fly EF28A in Hobart years ago and STILL get the shivers when I think about it.
