Iceman
As I age, memories from my youth seem to be becoming more vivid. One I had lately was at about 5 or 6 years old (early 70’s) during the Calgary Stampede. I remember being in the grandstands at Night with my parents as a Bell 47 flew back and forth over the event. Dangling below the helicopter was a person on a trapeze, it was an awe inspiring sight and sound especially at night. Has anyone else seen this? I did some research and came up with some pictures from the 1957 Calgary Stampede. ”This 1957 photograph shows Sandy Winters and Larry Ruhl with their pilot; they performed an acrobatic act dangling from a helicopter at the Calgary Stampede PHOTO BY CALGARY HERALD FILE PHOTO /Calgary Herald archives”

Df2301
hello! This act you saw was actually my grandmother, Sandy Winters and Larry (Loren) Ruhl. They performed from the last 50s to mid 60s. My grandmother used to tell us stories and some my mom never knew of. She and Larry got to meet some amazing people. They lost touch with each other for a while until my mother found Larry on FaceBook through and article he had wrote online. Sadly, It is with a heavy heart to say my grandmother has passed away in March. And Larry passed I believe early 2021. After her passing we found a box filled with newspaper articles and pictures of her amazing time performing, such a treasure we love! We are so happy that there are some people who still remember their amazing performances! 9
