thekingshead
I thought the Bell212Hp was the aircraft of choice for wildfire suppression? All that water they haul in +35 temps. They sure do make a difference. The emissions on a few of them in Western Canada are even Carbon neutral. How can anyone question that? 1
R0T0R
Can anyone explain to me how a helicopter that burns hundreds of litres per hour is carbon neutral? This seems like BS. 1 1

They’re basically offsetting carbon by paying. There’s no such a thing as “carbon neutral”. You just buy someone else’s carbon pollution. It’s a bit like saying electric vehicles are good for the world…

wcobra
11 hours ago, R0T0R said: Can anyone explain to me how a helicopter that burns hundreds of litres per hour is carbon neutral? This seems like BS. Well, the ICAO (International Carbon Affiliates Organization) recognizes that Carbon is the chemical backbone of life on Earth and the compounds of Carbon regulate the Earth's temperature, make up the food that sustains us, and provides energy to warm (and cool) our homes, power our helicopters etc. and as such fuels our global economy; in short when Carbon is utilized (ie consumed or burned) the resulting use of such neutralizes said Carbon. Extrapolation from the foregoing, a helicopter that burns hundreds of liters of hydrocarbons per hour is neutralizing the Carbon at a great rate; logic would then dictate that a helicopter IS CARBON NEUTRAL 🙂. Next question please... 3
