Does anyone know why the basket is on the right side when it's mounted on a 350? I've been told it's so the pilot can see it but that doesn't make sense to me. I have flown many many hours with baskets on both sides and can't see any reason under the sun why it would be mounted on the right for skiing... unless hearing the "thump thump" as you run over the stakes with it is somehow reassuring...

Not all 350's have the basket on the right side

If you are flying a 350 with a 212, a right side basket keeps things consistent.

I personally prefer left side as it keeps the machine more level and all the wandering skiers under the keen eye of their guide. It also makes for a faster turn around and doesn't wear out the lead guide as he slogs around the nose through waist deep snow.

If I need a guide for reference at the stakes I'll just ask him to do so on the radio. Otherwise he stays with the group and every time I crash onto the stakes I only have to worry about breaking wood and not crushing meat.
