The following was copied from the AIN website newsletter a few months ago. Has anyone heard of any confirmation on this?

 

Approach Limits Raised in Canada

 

Responding to recommendations from Canada’s Transportation Safety Board after at least two low-visibility landing accidents, Transport Canada will increase the minimum visibility required before beginning an approach from the current 1,200 feet (370 meters) to 1,600 feet (500 meters), effective December 1. The visibility measurement can be made by a sensor or by a qualified observer if a visibility sensor has not been installed or is out of service. The regulations have been amended to prohibit commercial operators, including air-taxi services, from beginning an approach under conditions where a successful landing is unlikely. However, the rule will not apply to operators and crews already approved to lower visibility limits at specified runways. Transport Canada stated that the new rule will help harmonize Canadian regulations with international standards. The amendments will be published on September 20 in the Canada Gazette, Part II.

Here's the Canada Gazette Part II section that applies but I don't see a change from 1200 feet - but then again it's a tough (dull) read and I may have missed it:

I have not heard anything about RVR limits being rasied but I did hear a rumour about DH being lowered for helicopter approaches.

Have not heard anything here, it was mentioned some time ago. There was talk about going to 2600' but if the crew where SIM trained you could get lower limits BUT this was for a Plank Brothers, not pertaining to us.

Hot and humid. Showing 30.3 degrees but 80 percent humidity. Aircraft sits on the ramp for a while and the OAT guage is spiked at 50 degrees Celcius. Almost looking forward to shovelling snow in a few weeks. Well, almost.

 

I hadn't heard anything official but thought that it would not involve your operation. That would just about cripple the economy over there.
