Rotorhead
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZSep9lkfwQ I just received this from an old friend in Terrace. My old stomping grounds. My replacement doing my old job at Kemano. RH
Cole
So what is he actually doing... just practising a landing? Testing the pad? I really love watching the turn around the tail departure.
Rotorhead
He was likely practicing or doing a touchdown for the camera. The platform was built for the 206B but they no longer have one at the base since I spread the last one across a meadow north of Smithers six years ago following an engine failure while longlining. The Catenary is like a spider web holding two 267Kv circuits of powerline to the Kitimat Aluminum smelter from the powerhouse in Kemano. The powerline was built in the early 1950s but was knocked out a few times by avalanches in this cirque. The Catenary suspension system replaces six towers if I recall correctly. The pad is about 4300 feet ASL and 700 feet above ground level. The linemen get dropped off to do scheduled inspections, the first item unloaded is always the emergency repelling gear in case we are unable to return. HeliFly
Yes, I've seen that video before. I really like it. And I too like watching the departure. Good job, Kendell!
